s t a r a l u r

well, this is my second attempt with acrylics. it's rather tough getting rid of the notion that i can manipulate the paint in the same way i do watercolours, but i'm sort of getting the hang of it.. i think.

this is the 2nd version of Staralur, which was ruined when my room got flooded a few days back i like how this one turned out more than the last, but it kind of lost its intimacy somehow. the other one had, as someone else put it "the feeling of spying on someone composing a ballad for their loved one; a bit voyeuristic...". this one's more rockstarish.

still, i needed to do something a little uplifting for myself and here it is.. i haven't been this pleased with my work in a long time. letting go of familiarity can sometimes be a pleasant surprise.

Edit: yup, the whammy bar is quite large, but it is that big in the reference that i used (footage of Sigur Rós - live in Philadelphia, 2001).

2nd Edit: my friend, told me that the whammy bar is in fact a violin bow. he is evidently smarter than i am.
